About Chris Tate

Turning dreams into reality
Chris Tate is an American stock car driver and United States Marine, known for becoming the first active-duty Marine to compete in NASCAR. From motocross tracks in Texas to the ARCA Menards Series, Tate’s story is one of speed, service, and perseverance.
Early Passion and First Starts
Growing up in Decatur, Texas, Tate was surrounded by motorsports from an early age. He attended NASCAR races as young as four years old and cut his teeth in motocross before transitioning into stock cars. In late 2019, Tate made his first late model stock start at Myrtle Beach Speedway, igniting a pursuit of his long-term goal: competing in NASCAR.

Service to Our Country
When the pandemic slowed his racing momentum in 2020, Tate made a life-changing decision. In March 2021, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving on active duty while continuing to train and race when possible.
Rising to the rank of Corporal, Tate often balanced military commitments with his time at the track — sometimes stepping away from racing to fulfill duty requirements.
In 2024, he made history as the first active-duty U.S. Marine to compete in a NASCAR-sanctioned national series event, debuting in the ARCA Menards Series at Iowa Speedway.
During his ARCA Menards Series debut at Iowa, Tate chose to honor his Marine brothers by carrying the names of LCpl Jonathan Gierke and PFC Zachary Riffle on his racecar. Both Marines lost their lives in the line of duty, and Tate made it clear that his historic start was about more than just racing — it was about representing those who couldn’t be there.
The tribute was a powerful reminder that every lap he turns is driven by a sense of duty to the values and people of the Marine Corps.
